can anyone tell me if there was any difference in the gearboxes in the GTi 180 between 2003 - 2006 as have bought a replacement gearbox apprantly from a 2006 GTi 180 but the replacement box doesnt fit.

1st type - DM78 / DM77 / DM7G
2nd type - DP08 / DPOH / DP09 / DPK8
Then they are probably differences between each one even in the same type.
The fixings may be slightly different, hard to say without seeing them but if yours is 20DM78 and the other is any of the second type then that would be my guess.

Addaz, think the synchro has gone in 5th so keeps popping outta gear and got really bad whining in 3rd and 4th

#16: Re: GTI 180 Gearboxes Author: Maybury180, Location: MiddlesbroughPosted: Mon Oct 14, 2013 5:51 pm ---- Well Peugeot finally confirmed for my 180 there is only 2 gearboxes that can be used which are the 20DM77 & 20DM78, so now onto my 3rd gearbox which I have finally found a 20DM78, this problem could have been solved last week if I'd of spoken to someone at my local peugeot garage that knew what they were talking about, never mind tho hopefully have her back on the road on Wednesday, fingers crossed
