Engine cuts out when changing gear, HELP!!

Hi,

I have a problem with my Peugeot 206 GLX 1.4.

On changing to a lower gear the engine cuts out. For example, coming up to a roundabout I brake and then press down the clutch to change gear and the engine just stops. All the lights come up on the dash, power steering goes, etc. I seem to still be able to brake though. This also happens if I brake to slow down, take my foot off the brake and then put down the clutch to change down to a lower gear so it seems to me the problem is with the clutch? I do not know anything about cars to be honest, so I don't really know what this could be....

Any advice on what I should do would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot

Idle Control Valve (ICV) probably needs cleaning.

I bet it doesn't cut out if you keep your foot on the throttle slightly. If that keeps it running as mentioned above it will be the ICV.
