#1: Which engine is in my 206? Author: very_452001, Location: Birmingham PostPosted: Mon Oct 21, 2013 1:48 pm

I went on ebay to look for service parts for my 206 which is due for a service soon however when i check the ebay compatability system it says parts not compatible with my 206 even though I select peugeot 206, 1.4 2006.

Will Service parts for peugeots 206's between 98-09 fit all 206's trims and petrol engines between this period? Which service parts fits all 206's regardless of trim and petrol engine you have?

Mine is a Peugeot 206 1.4 verve 5d (AC), registration 06 plate. How many valves does this car have?

Probably a TU3JP (8 valve engine).
PM me your VIN and I'll confirm it for you.

Not 100% if the parts on all TU3 lumps (TU3A and TU3JP) are interchangeable. Electrical things like sensors could be different due to the electrical systems.
I know that there are 2 types of oil filter (canister and paper)

Is there any visual indicators/signs on the car that shows whether I have a TU3JP or ET3J4 (16 valve)?

I seen 2 different size air filters for the 206 on ebay. One is square the other is rectangle. Which one will fit mine?

What about pollen filters, are they all the same size for all 206's? Same question for the fuel filters?

Pollen filters should all be the same as they fit into the bulk head, the fuel filter is self cleaning. My TU3 has the square air filter, but since we still aren't 100% on which engine you have, it's impossible to say.

Be very very very careful buying service bits on eBay. Many listings say that a part will fit various engine types and sizes but they won't. We've had many customers come into my work saying they've been on eBay and their oil filter was the wrong type/size or their air filter was too big etc etc. You're better off going to main dealer as they'll supply genuine correct parts at a good price if you bargain with them, or your local motor factor like Andrew Page, Euro Car Parts, GSF, GMF etc etc

So even in the Auction/Listing title states for e.g. 'Air Filter for 206' on ebay, this air filter wont fit?

Some of the ebay sellers ask for your reg or VIN at purchase so they can make sure you're ordering the right part.
You even have to be wary with ECP as when you enter your reg, it lists both types of air filter

Looking at the details for the 06 1.4 Verve (TU3A) sat on my dads driveway, you need part number 1444TL (rectangle type)
Where as the picture above (same as my 03 1.4 (TU3JP)) is part number 1444VS (square type).

As said previously, I can check and confirm using your VIN

Just checked. Yeah mines definately the 8v engine.

So its just the air filter that comes in 2 different sizes? Pollen, fuel filters are all the same size?

Some have fuel filters that are 'lifetime' that are fitted in the fuel lines and some have replaceable fuel filters. All of the 206 pollen filters are the same across all models which is part number 6447AZ. If you want me to check the oil and air filters, drop me your reg or VIN number and I can give you exact part numbers as I work at Peugeot and can get you the numbers for you.

Not guaranteed whatsoever. Across the 206 range there is a choice of 6 Air Filters for different engine codes/types. And even some have the same engine type but the airbox may be different due to build codes
