#1: Do i need to wipe the ecu fter fitting a new o2 sensor? Author: greenpug2222, Location: bradfordPosted: Mon Oct 21, 2013 10:22 pm ---- Hi,
over the last few weeks ive been having a bit of trouble with the idling of the car (2000 1.4) it would shake at idle, sometimes die at lights with engine light on but would restart after 5 seconds, having a little miss fire whilst driving and generally be a bit crap over all.
So I set about cleaning the idle control valve things which did improve things bit but not fully, New bosch plugs and a new coil pack (the correct one) and a new temp sensor. So I have now just replaced the o2 sensor (lambda) and was wondering if I may have to take it to a garage to have the memory wiped clean?
I have to say the new items have tended to help sort out most of the above but im just wondering if the ecu will know ive replaced these items ordo I have to tell it?
Thanks
Joe

You don't need to clear the codes from the ECU, it should pick up the new items and as long as the signals it receives are within the correct tolerances, it shouldn't be a problem.
