#1: Driving with little or no power steering fluid? Author: very_452001, Location: BirminghamPosted: Tue Oct 22, 2013 7:07 am ---- Does it cause damage to steering components caused by friction?
Which power steering fluid should I get?

All fluids that are low in a car is obviously not good for mechanical parts, barring screen washer of course.
Take it you have had a leak and fixed it.

Just realised the problem today. I see if there is a leak once I top it up.

Yes ... unless for a very short distance ...

What damage do you think I have caused? So far I havent noticed anything while driving.
#8: Re: Driving with little or no power steering fluid? Author: kandlbarrett, Location: SwindonPosted: Tue Oct 22, 2013 5:17 pm ---- There is only one way to find out if it is damaged - wait and see. It could range from you having got away with it to being knackered in a couple of months.
Wait and see!

Author: very_452001, Location: BirminghamPosted: Sun Jun 08, 2014 10:27 am ---- Im suspicious that my power steering fluid is leaking as I remember topping up to the max 7 months ago and today when I checked the fluid level it is totally dry. Plus I can see dark wet patch on the driveway where I park my car. I think I should worry unless the 206 is power steering fluid thirsty car?
What are the common causes of power steering fluid leakage? Is there a diagram/picture that shows schematics of the power steering system of the 206?
#10: Re: Driving with little or no power steering fluid? Author: TonyW, Posted: Mon Jun 09, 2014 1:21 pm ---- Mine recently went totally, the pas pipework runs across the front of the bumper and was wearing a hole, just leaking a little at first and then eventually went! Typically whilst I was 200miles from home at the time!
Drove it home, V STIFF! and then took it to the garage. He replaced the pipe (£150 inc labour i think it was) but said the pump was whining due to being run dry and advised its replacement.
Thankfully his spanner monkey broke it so i got a new one for freeeeeee!!!!
Just right under the lip of the bumper is where it clips, have a look as if it's not properly secured it will rub...
