My gti 180 headlights suck. The amount of light that they omit is aweful. I have just bought some 100w bulbs and it isn't much better. Are they all like this or do I have a wiring problem?

Also noticed they have a cover in the headlamp over the bulb. Does this mean I can fit HID's and don't have to adjust anything or are all headlights like this?

Thanks

Why don't you just buy some more powerful legal bulbs?

I have Ultra 500k 'Xenon gas filled' bulbs and despite the cheap looking packaging they are far better than the expensive Phillips bulbs I had previously and they omit a clearer white looking beam.

Also you can fit HID's but they look ridiculous and are ridiculous. Unsure how exactly they fit but my friend has a red 180 and yeah they definitely light up the road far better but they are blinding and look just like you have ridiculously bright bulbs pretty sure they also take a little while to get to full brightness which is laughable. (I thought they might look like you have xenons but they definitely don't lol).

If you're anywhere near M27, pop into HIDs Direct on Rutland Street. I got the Mtec Super whites from there, 55w input, 100w output, fully road legal.
Similar to Jamies comment. I had the Osram Nightbreaker+ before, the Mtecs are a lot brighter and a third of the price.

All dipped beams have a cover over them to reflect the light back ... or they become main-beams.

And I thought any 100w output bulbs were for off-road use only ... Sad Plus if too hot they could deform the headlight!

It's the xenon gas that makes a 55w look produce the output of 100w. It's the same with the Phillips, Ultras and Osrams.

Not noticed any heat difference between them and standard 55w bulbs.

Just me that thinks 206 headlights are pretty good to be honest? The phase 2 ones anyway. All ive got is some Nightbreakers in dipped and high and they are pretty decent, do a lot of country lane driving at night too.

I cant stand new headlights haha, dazzle the hell out of me even factory fitted ones. Im half contemplating buying some HIDs and fitting them aiming right at everyone else, because thats what seems to be happening to me most of the time lol.

(Thats tongue in cheek by the way before any keyboard warriors decide to have a pop Wink )

Just fit a couple of Cibie Oscars with 200w bulbs in them. When you are getting blinded, flip the Cibies on and give their face an instant suntan

Normally because they are not aligned correctly or the adjuster switch is set in the wrong position

Tossing the part no and type (bu477p h7) into google gives that they're available from at least amazon.co.uk , ebay.co.uk and a4autoparts.co.uk

H7 is a standard, so fitment should be no issue in crystal headlights.
