So what oil do people use?

I use Shell Helix Ultra 5W 30 just wondered if this was doing any good to my car...

Total Quartz 10W40 as recommended by Peugeot.

5W30 may be too thin at higher temperatures to lubricate adequately.
Have a read of this guide from Oilman and it explains in a bit more detail.

Shell Helix Ultra is excellent and I what I've been using exclussively for nearly 20 years now..
I found it's the best for the extreme conditions over here, and most people I know all agree on this.

I use 5W40 full synthetic in the 206 1.4i (TU3, 8-valve), and 5W30 on any other 16-valve engine which needs the thinner oil for the hydraulic tappets to work optimaly.

So yeah, depends what engine as Edward says but worth every penny even though quite expensive.
