#1: Peugeot 206 GTI HELP Author: madserboo PostPosted: Thu Nov 21, 2013 7:37 am
    ----
Hey all I have 206 2001 2.0 GTI, it had been sitting up for over a year, I charged the battery last night and today tried to start it today and it wouldn't tick over, all electrics were working. So I jumped it but it only runs when accelerator is pressed, when I let off it cuts out. When I start it I have to keep pressing the peddle for it to tick over, any help would be much appreciated Thanks

i would start by taking of the idle control valve and map sensor out and giving them a clean cause they could be a bit clogged up with deposits from where it has been sat having the same problem with a saxo vts atm

map sensor sits in the inlet manifold under the throttle and the idle control valve site in the throttle housing at the top
where abouts are you?

The battery being flat causes them not to tick over properly

As mentioned above sit there at 2k revs for 20mins it will work fine after or drive it with the throttle cable adjusted to keep the revs up

I had to do this when my bBro in law battery died due to alternator so we stopped batteries and I drove home with his dead battery and revs up

Ok so today I jumped it an adjusted throttle cable so it ran at 2000, let it run for 20 minutes, turned off engine, turned it back on an it was struggling, I pressed the throttle repeatedly an it started, left it running at 2000 for 30 minutes, turned off engine, turned back on and it was struggling again so I repeatedly pressed throttle but it's not ticking over, any ideas???????

yes its the top right sensor with the yellow white and green wires showing i think its two t20 screws that hold it in had to clean mine recently.

also is that water on the butterfly flap around the bottom and unless you unplugged it that top left connection should have a plug in it its a heater to warm up the body
