How to lock boot when battery is removed

#1: How to lock boot when battery is removed Author: MrBombHead, Location: Horchurch, Essex, London PostPosted: Thu Nov 21, 2013 1:28 pm

Guys,

Probably a really silly question, but how can I lock the boot on my 180 when I have the battery removed?

Had to take it off to charge the thing up because it has died on me. Hopefully just the alternator as its only a few months old.

Obviously the central locking doesn't work so I locked both doors, but noticed I cannot lock the boot. Bit worried as the car is a few roads away (where it broke down).

Any advice is much appreciated.

My 206 doesnt lock manually....the actuator has decided not to work so now the only thing I can do is tie the boot from inside to make it secure. I am sure someone will advise a more convenient option. Smile

Open boot, small panel in the black plastic trim to leaver open, push metal bar up, walaa it's locked, vice versa for undoing it,

Just me that does this then?... had battery connected, locked using the key in the passenger door (which locked everything but not alarmed) then went drivers door opened that with key, opened bonnet and disconnect battery/remove, and shut bonnet then finally locked drivers door with key. Hoorah everything locked. Done this on my old 306 and saxo a few times too.

What He Said

Opening the bonnet before locking the car isn't rocket science. Wait for the BSI to go to sleep and then disconnect the battery.
Before the battery goes back on, open drivers door with the key. Obviously you can't open the electric windows so get a friend to sit inside so that they can turn the sidelights on when you reconnect the power to avoid doing any damage to the BSI.
