any ideas about safety? I did a hpi check and its come back clear so it obviously wasn't an insurance job

Its entirely possible that when that happen the owner at the time thought no damage had been done. Its quite possible to bend the metal part like this, but have the plastic cover spring back into place. I'd expect there to be a lot of cars like this on the road, though now you know about it I'd get it sorted if I was you - it'll hurt less next time it has a rear-end collision if you do.

on a slightly different note, I had a look at fitting the towbar earlier today. the channels in which the towbar would slide into seem to have a plate over them. is this correct do you know? the plate is fixed very firm...

I was wondering why you took the bumper off in the first place? I fitted a tow bar to my 206 and I didn't need to take it off. Mine was similar to the one in Timon2210's instruction sheet. It took about 2 hours in total and another 1/2 hour or so to fit the electric kit. I bought the one that plugs straight into the rear light connectors with no wires to cut, piece of cake to fit.

On a slightly different note, correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't an 04 plate model have the later boot strip?

im pretty sure that this is just the outside skin its not the actual slam panel which is the safety feature

thedevonian,

I took he bumper off to see a bit more as im doing it on the drive without ramps, plus I have no instructions (well I have now). regarding the boot strip I wouldn't have a clue. what should it have?
