#1: VVT Solenoid Author: LiamGTi180, Location: OxfordPosted: Sun Dec 08, 2013 8:32 am ---- I've been meaning to clean the vvt solenoid for a while and finally got around to it. Got it out no trouble and gave it a good clean. When I put it back in I've rounded off the little Allen key screw that holds it in. Anyone know where I can get another one from? Will it be alright to run with the solenoid not in completely tight. Moves a few mm up. Thanks

#5: Re: VVT Solenoid Author: LiamGTi180, Location: OxfordPosted: Tue Dec 10, 2013 10:51 am ---- No. This is how I did it.
Disconnect battery (follow proper procedure)
Removed the engine cover.
Took out the coil pack (makes it easier to access).
The VVT is situated just to the left of the coil pack.
Removed the little screw with a 5mm Allen key iirc and disconnected the solenoid. Removed the solenoid with mole grips (carefully).
Cleaned with carb cleaner.
Replaced parts in reverse order

#10: Re: VVT Solenoid Author: LiamGTi180, Location: OxfordPosted: Tue Dec 10, 2013 11:37 am ---- Yeah it will. My 180 was feeling a bit sluggish and didn't seem to pull as well as it used to. Took it out and cleaned it and it really made a difference. Pulls right up to the red line and so much smoother. Well it did anyway
