Grinding noise on acceleration

Hi,

I have recently noticed a grinding noise when accelerating, it sounds clear in gear 1, gear 2 you hear it slightly and the other gears you don't notice. It maybe like a metal-to-metal contact? 2011 March I had a new clutch, for sure gone a lot heavier since and clutch pedal annoyingly squeaks so maybe something behind this? Other concern is water pump was never changed and I am at 110k miles.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

how many miles have you done using the clutch since 2011??,clutch pedal is heavy, maybe you have a problem with master cylinder,as it adjust the clutch depending on it.

Well I recommend that you do a whole timing belt kit replacement,as 110K is much for a water pump, and it may fail at anytime, and it's not right ,to change the water pump, and keep the old timing belt with it's tensioner.

It has done about 24-25k since change. My timing belt was also done around same time as clutch 83-84k but no water pump. So I should change the belt again with the water pump although the belt has only done 24-25k ?

it's the safest work can be done,so you don't have any issues related to timing belt what so ever, the mechanic who done the timing belt should of advised you to do so,so that you don't think of redoing it again as now,and it don't cost much as for labor

First motion shaft bearing has failed. Very common issue

Gearbox rebuild required or replacement box
