#1: Steering issue Author: Mr-Tigger, Location: EssexPosted: Thu Dec 19, 2013 11:38 am ---- so over last few months what was a minor issue with slight unwanted movement occasionally has now progressed to quite an issue.
To rule out a few things the car has had new:
suspension
topmounts
lower arms
tracking done three times
changed tires around to se if there's any change in behaviour which there wasnt
if i accelerate from a start often the car will pull left, sometimes more severaly than others, and it seems to sway direction a lot with the camber of any given road.
If i fling it into a roundabout for example it almost feels like the tires arent quite in the direction they should be as it just doesnt feel sharp at all and breaks tread a lot easier than usual. there is no grinding or play in the wheel but after a few looks around, only input i have had is it could be play in/damage to the steering rack.
As im a bit of a dunce with things unless i have done it previously, and before i pay out stinkloads of money to a garage, would this sound right? and are there any basic tests i can do,mate said check the turns and its 1.5 each way from centre to lock

#4: Re: Steering issue Author: Mr-Tigger, Location: EssexPosted: Sat Dec 21, 2013 12:20 pm ---- tires are a bit cack yes and near end there life but even when switched em out it didnt seem make a difference. thinking msybe a binding brake caliper as i had four wheel alignment done and almost everything on the front end in perfect bar the caster due to uneven ride height front to back until get the damn torsion bar adjusted but thats another story all together as no1 will do it for me haha
#5: Re: Steering issue Author: kandlbarrett, Location: SwindonPosted: Sat Dec 21, 2013 1:33 pm ---- Play in rear stub axle allowing the rear of the car to steer?
Tyre pressures correct?
#6: Re: Steering issue Author: kandlbarrett, Location: SwindonPosted: Sat Dec 21, 2013 1:34 pm ---- Track rod ends?
Steering rack?
#7: Re: Steering issue Author: Mr-Tigger, Location: EssexPosted: Sat Dec 21, 2013 7:28 pm ---- track rods and tie rod ends all new,and no comment from any the garages that done the tracking. steering rack is a concern tbh. yeah tires right pressure, needs new tires anyway so gna sort that and hopefully that will help, and check brakes while am there but after taking a varied drive im thinking less and less its the brakes as it goes both ways on both acceleration, deceleration and steady driving, depending on camber. rear axle....... i have no idea lol but nah doubt it because feel the wheel move and can tell its the front end leading
