#7: Re: advice needed for a gti swap Author: pumba, Location: gwent s,walesPosted: Wed Jan 01, 2014 4:07 pm ---- thanks but i want to do it as my engines not too good an its what i want a five door gti lol, an as for time its not an issue my mate owns a garage doing mechanics an electric`s and as i have the doner car already it not going to cost much at all.
#8: Re: advice needed for a gti swap Author: Steve206, Location: UKPosted: Wed Jan 01, 2014 4:24 pm ---- As long as you understand the electrics side of the 206, just swap everything over.
Keep the VIN number from the GTi if you ever get problems down the line.
#9: Re: advice needed for a gti swap Author: pumba, Location: gwent s,walesPosted: Wed Jan 01, 2014 4:40 pm ---- hi thanks,im going to keep the vin num. i dont 100% but my mate does.
this was what i was thinking to swap to complete the conversion just not sure if i missed anything lol
engine
gearbox
engine bay loom
ecu
complete front subframe inc brakes, suspension legs, steering rack
chip from key with key reader around ing barrell
rear axel (mines not to good anyway)
speedo cluster
not to sure if i missed anything that i`d need also not sure if i`d run into any issues when doing this, so was hopeing someone that has done this could gimme a few pointers on what id need an what to look out for. as for electrics i thought it was a case of swaping ecu an loom

#14: Re: advice needed for a gti swap Author: pumba, Location: gwent s,walesPosted: Thu Jan 02, 2014 10:42 am ---- on
Really! I didn't think I would need it as my car don't have abs
#15: Re: advice needed for a gti swap Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Thu Jan 02, 2014 11:11 am ---- You might get away without it. The ECU/BSi will expect ABS to be there. Doesn't interfere with the driving of the car though so just remove the bulb from the clocks.
