#1: Random cable going from Engine fuse box to LED on Dashboard Author: MrRichmond1995, Location: ChelmsfordPosted: Tue Jan 07, 2014 11:32 am ---- Hello Guys!
I whilst installing the power cables for my two Amps I noticed that there was a random cable going from my engine fuse box to a LED next to the Lock and Hazard Light button on my dashboard.
Below is a photo of the cable in the fuse box, my key is being used to show which cable it is that has been spliced into.
I was wondering if anyone knew why the previous owner might of installed it into my car and if so what the LED would possibly indicate?
My car is a 2005 206 Zest 3 1.4L
Thanks in advance!

The tape is there to cover the soldiering from shorting out.
The cable runs through the firewall grommet up to my dashboard which covers the MFD, It turns off when I turn the car off and then goes out about 30 seconds after the key is removed, It doesnt always light up and is rather confusing!
I'm going to the Shops later so I will get a picture of the LED and wiring near the MFD then.
Just looking in my Haynes manual to see if it can tell me what that wire is responsible for.

Because the cable runs through the grommet and goes up to the MFD where the LED is connected to it.

That's probably where they thought was the best place to get a constant live not realising that the car goes into ECO mode to save the battery from being drained.

Spot on Macca!
My parents car has just come back from having its MOT done (Failed, Seat mount was cracked) and our friend who also used to be a Peugeot Master Technician before he moved to Citroen said who ever put it in obviously tried to fit a Flashing LED for a fake alarm and didn't wire it correctly and must of given up fixing it!
