you have to adjust the ports of the gti to the larger 180 exhaust.

Is the connection between them at the same place and is the pipe diameter different.
Rattling GTI manifold is quite easy to fix, remove the front pipe from the exhaust manifold and tack weld the four pipes inside the manifold together.
