Replacing manual wing mirrors with electric - problems

#1: Replacing manual wing mirrors with electric - problems Author: JA-BE PostPosted: Wed Jan 22, 2014 3:08 pm

Hi

I have at the moment my old, and no longer on the road 1.4 206, and a 1.1 sw Estate. Before I scrap the 1.4 I want to swap some bits. The 1.1 doesn't have electric mirrors, so I would like to swap them over. The loom has the spare plugs for the electric mirrors, but when I fit the electric switch from the 1.4, it blows the 30A fuse which supplies the electric windows. I have leaned from this group that this is because of the drivers side, which has the "one-touch" window is wired differently. I noted that there was an extra pin in the connecting plug, presumably this causes a conflict if the car I am trying to upgrade does not have the correct motor in the drivers door.

My question would be, if I remove that extra pin, will I now be able to fit the electric window switch albeit with the "one-touch" facility not working. If so I can them go ahead and replace the two wing mirrors.

Thank you for reading this

Hmm, are the both cars multiplexed/non-plexed? If the other one is plexed and the other isn't this might (and probably will) cause some problems.

Have you thought about changing the looms inside the doors..? Just in case there is a difference in wiring.

Thanks for your reply. Although I know multiplex means, I don't know in respect of this car. Could you expand please.

How old is your car? What age of car did the electric window/mirror switch come out of?

To work out if your car is multiplex or not , simple looking over the site would tell you,
