Hi Guys,

Got what I believe to be a problem

When im driving down the A46 and I get to 70mph there seems to be a rumbling from the passenger side area at the front. Now when I take my foot off the accelerator the rumbling stops. Its only when I start to accelerate that the rumbling starts again. I thought it was only 5th gear that it did it in so I tried dropping into 4th and yet it still does it but you cant hear it much as the car is doing a fair few revs... obviously.

Does anyone think they know what this might be.

Its only started since I put my mudflaps on the car and also since I had a slide and my car enjoyed the sight of a kerb :/

Hope you guys can help.

Thanks

Luke

rumbling around the wheel area usually suggests a wheel bearing needs changing .

I didnt hit the kerb at speed. I hit that at literally 5-10 mph in the ice. I havent had time to check it tbh.

It is concerning me dont get me wrong. It happened just over a week and a half ago now :/

The easiest way to check, is jack up the front wheels, and get someone to see what the rumbleing is, while you go up and down the gears.

jack it up spin wheel with hand check for any grinding noises etc, check for play in the wheel at same time.

Take the mud flaps off and see if the noise goes.

**Any Input Welcome!** iv got a similar rumbling noise, (iv sorted 1/2 of it) only when going straight and turning right. i also thought it was th wheel bearing, but after having th front left to pieces th bearing seems to spin smooth (could still be naff tho?!) also th wheel has NO play in it watsoever (when "shaken") !!
So. . . . . . i also had a suggestion it was th gearbox, so i changed that & 1/2 of th noise went away (th slight grinding in 1st & 2nd) but i still have a grumbling coming from th front left of th car!
your thoughts on: im thinking it could be;
1 - th drive shaft is nakered either side or both?
2 - th wheel bearing is stubborn & badtempered (f***%#!)
3 - th new gearbox is also (as above) f***%#! (i think this is unlikly as th noise persists both under power and clutch down)
4 - we buy any car offered me £350 cut my losses and take it!
5 - something else. . . . ?. . . .
thanks for reading my boring problem post, plz leave me feedback!

Most of the time if its when turning its a drive shaft. More noticeable when on full lock.
