I recently bought a 206 1.4 lx 51 plate and I can hear a noise at the rear of my car, I've been told it could be the exhaust or the spare wheel cage...I checked to see if it was the spare wheel cage and I think it could be that, seems a bit loose but the big screw is very secure, also the cage is quite low and I can see it without going underneath the car.
Please help.

Same with the exhaust too. You won't be able to tell much from just looking, you will need to get under the car and check yourself.

I've wiggled it with my hand and yes it is, could this be the reason why the cage is low? I'm a newb when it comes to cars

It might be, try tightening it and see if it makes any difference.

I tightened that thing soo much I don't think hulk himself could have moved it. I worked out that my exhaust rubbers were wrong, could be the same problem but it does sound like your spare wheel is the culprit

#8: Re: Noise at the rear of car Author: DREWDEN, Location: huddersfieldPosted: Mon Feb 03, 2014 5:20 pm ---- I am pretty sure the wheel cage can be adjusted higher or lower where the cage is fixed into the holes on the bodywork, if its slotted into the lower holes then that would make sense of the rattleing, and on full adjustment will not be tight.
If thats the case move the cage to the higher holes.
