Hi guys.

I keep getting a really high pitched squeal from my engine bay, Its more apparent when raining or on a wet surface.

However it does sometime sound when driving in the dry.

Any Ideas?

I'm leaning towards needing a belt replacement/tightening but i could be wrong of course.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Sad

Belt sounds a good bet.

Thanks, would you recommend taking to mechanics to do or attempting myself?

I've heard some can be a real nightmare!

Take it to a mechanic.

All booked in for tommorow. Also getting feul filter and spark plugs changed whilst it's in.

Only problem is the guy recommended NGK spark plugs. Reading on this forum worries me that they may not me a good call.

I have a 2001 206 lx 1.4 8v, any idea if I will have a problem?

This is copy & pasta from another post but it answers your question...

"The phase detection system built in to the coil pack that detects misfires is incompatible with NGK spark plugs.

With NGK plugs fitted you can end up with the HT ignition voltage instead of firing the spark plug it ends up being sent back down the wiring loom which can fry the engine ecu.

It was such a problem that PSA Peugeot / Citroen sent out a technical service bulletin to there dealer networks warning of the issue!"

My 2 cents would be to buy your own (Bosch Super 4's seem favoured amongst everyone here) and have him fit them, although check they'd be ok with that as some mechanics wont fit owner sourced items.
