#1: Pulling left - Tracked twice by two different garages Author: SLI09144416, Posted: Thu Feb 27, 2014 4:02 pm ---- Hi,
As mentioned in my other two threads, I've been having problems with my 206 1999.
Firstly, it's been pulling to the left since I've had it and I've had two different garages track it only slightly improving it. The tyres were also checked and are fine. I'm getting more and more frustrated with it and I've even had to get a second opinion on the tracking from another garage. All the suspension was checked and everything else.

Swap the wheels front to back, see what happens. Are the front tyres budget or branded? Are the tread depths similar on both? Are the tyre pressures correct?

Not too sure, how would I find that out?

#8: Re: Pulling left - Tracked twice by two different garages Author: Robertquicsilver, Location: HullPosted: Fri Feb 28, 2014 9:00 am ---- you can get it 4 wheel alignment they will line up the front wheels to the rear axle. did it to mine spot on now
#9: Re: Pulling left - Tracked twice by two different garages Author: kandlbarrett, Location: SwindonPosted: Fri Feb 28, 2014 12:11 pm ---- There can be a number of possibilities:
Dragging brake (front or rear.)
Mismatched wishbones; these can be in good condition but wrong or poorly manufactured ones fitted that are different shaopes between sides(it has happened.)
Failing rear suspension or trailing arm bushes (a more frequent cause than you would expect.)
Is it pulling to the left or just steering wheel is off-centred (some people mistake one for the other.)
Poor rear geometry that is not being compensated for when setting the front (while 2 wheel alignment equipment used properly can cope with this almost no garage uses the full kit when tracking) get a full four wheel alignment done, get the print out and post it here.
Soft (under inflated) tyre - have to be damned soft to cause pulling though.
Gearbox / final drive problem (very unlikely but has happened.)
Poorly repaired crash damage and subframe or mountings misaligned.
4 wheel alignment done well should spot most of the possible causes though do have them check for buckled wheel or other obvious damage first. The centres are trained to do this before doing alignment but most operators get lazy and don't bother. A buckle wheel will give eronious readings because most equipment clamps to the outer rim of the wheel and if it is fixed at the worst point in the buckle you are correcting for the buckle and not general vehicle alignment.
Also stroke the centres managers ego - tell them no one else could fix it and they are your last hope befrore scrapping the car. Men love having their ego stroked and being given a challenge - it works wonders.
