Central Locking Bouncing Problem

#1: Central Locking Bouncing Problem Author: thegasman PostPosted: Fri Feb 28, 2014 1:16 pm

Hi there, i have just acquired a 206 as a first car for my partner to learn to drive in; its a 2000 w reg 1.4

Had the car a few weeks and the car doors refuse to lock, every time the central locking button is pressed the car locks and then bounce back up.

The only way to lock the car is to click the central locking button a few times and lock each door manually. I have also noticed that the boot now stays unlocked and wont lock.

Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Probably failure of one (or both) lock mechanisms.
IIRC, unplug one door lock at a time and see if the still connected door and boot starts working. If so, replace the unplugged mechanism.
Not sure if the boot lock can cause this...

Sounds like 1 of the door actuators have gone and needs replacing, easy but fiddly job as you have to strip the door. Once you find out which one it is, look for a replacement on ebay but be sure you get the right one as there are a few different variants depending on the number of wires on the plug. I think from memory there is a 6 wire version, a 9 wire version and something else.

Once you've stripped the door or boot, look on the inside where the lock is, you'll notice that the is a plug that connects to the lock mechanism, take the plug out (hardest bit I found) and take a picture of the connecter and then you'll know which version you'll be looking for. I priced a new Peugeot item up and it was about £80, got one off ebay for £10 in postage and so far it's worked fine.

Stripped both doors and the boot door and disconnected each of the lock mechanisms individually and still getting the same fault with the locking bouncing back up. I can't see any other indication of what might be causing the problem.

Just a thought, is it possible that both door actuators are faulty?

A common fault is a break in the drivers door wiring loom beeween the A pillar and the door, worth inspecting.
