Rocker Cover Gasket
-> 206 Problems

So went to give the throttle body a good clean today and noticed oil leaking from the rocker cover... Good'O another bloody problem.

Now never had to replace one before, I know it's a pretty straight forward job so just a couple of Q's really. Oh and its a 1.4 8v.

I'm guessing it's a case of remove rocker cover, remove gasket, clean up where the existing gasket was, underside of rocker too, replace with new gasket, replace rocker and not to over tighten rocker bolts... Right?

Is there any lubricants or oil to be used when replacing the gasket?

Also any tips or advice for a good way to remove the oil that's leaked out?

Thanks in advance!

Nothing special at all. About the simplest job you can do. Note that the nuts holding it down have a shoulder and stop at the right point for perfect amount of compression on the rubber seal so don't over tighten them thinking it needs to be tighter.

A new gasket is usually a 100% fix for a leak.

Note that it isn't a conventional gasket it is a rubber seal that fits onto the cover.

Any conventional oil cleaner will do it - just follow the instructions. Also make sure you aren't parked over tarmac when you clean it down as oil and most cleaners will ruin tarmac.
