#1: Bought my second Peugeot 206 Verve on a cat D. Author: Paul76, Location: AndoverPosted: Tue Mar 11, 2014 10:00 am ---- Hi there folks. So I've bought another 206 Verve on a cat D.
It's a 2006 plate with 45000 miles on the clock. I managed to get this one for £620. It's a really nice tidy car. I have one or two questions though concerning the bonnet and bumper.
Can I put the Cc/ Gti bumper and bonnet on this verve? Obviously on the verve the bumper is colour coded. I cannot find a standard colour coded bumper yet in silver. They've all got the Black bumper protector strips.
I know the wings are different on the cc and gti. Basically I need the whole front end for this car. Is anything to stop me from putting gti/ cc wings, bonnet and bumper on?
This is my second 206 verve I've done. The last one was a 2006 with 33000 miles on it. I had to change the whole n/s suspension, wheel, passenger door and wing to get that mint. Then got the whole side of the car repainted. Here it is after full repair.
I sold the Moon stone Blue one for £2350 after just 3 days of advertising her. So I thought I'd do another one. I learnt loads about the 206 whilst working on her. So I'm hoping I can use my expertise and get my new one looking mint quite fast.
Anyway, thanks for reading. Again, can I put a Cc or Gti front end on her? Secondly, what kind of impact does it take to get these Airbags to deploy?
Neither of the two I've bought have deployed.

Awesome. Thanks for the prompt reply. So all the doors are the same on all models?

Online car salvage auctions. Silverlake, Asm and MotorHog are all good. People bid just like a EBay lot.
Another question. What bumper is on the verve? Is it colour coded standard, gti or a sport bumper? I've tried to work it out by looking at pictures on EBay but I'm still not entirely sure.
The verve front bumper looks like a Gti bumper to me. Another thing, if I put the gti wings on this car, the 14 inch verve alloys will look lost me thinks.
#6: Re: Bought my second Peugeot 206 Verve on a cat D. Author: iainlovatt, Posted: Tue Mar 11, 2014 11:38 am ---- cheers for that
its a sports bumper ie gti bumper. I would upgrade the wheels.

Author: Timon2210, Location: PalestinePosted: Wed Mar 12, 2014 3:04 pm ---- That is a nice catch mate :),the car looks great, after fixing the front end,it will be brand new,and of course you can fit CC/GTi front wings on yours,as your car already got a sport bumper fitted, and even if you find the bumper with same color, but black bumper strip, you can always paint it to match as color coded :),a larger wheels would be way better than a 14" :D,Good Luck with fixing this beauty

Hi mate. Yes I will put gti wings on as there is a Cc being broken near me. I'd like to get the complete front end of the same car so all the panels match up.
I removed the front end yesterday of the car. The drivers side inner wing is ok but the headlight housing is pretty beat up. I'm going to try and knock back into shape first. If that fails, another section will have to be welded in.
To my complete amazement, the airbag light isn't even being shown displayed on the dash. The first 206 I did , I had to remove the airbag ecu and send it away for diagnostics.

Hi mate. So yesterday I removed wings, inner wings ,bonnet ,bumper, crash beam behind the bumper( not sure what that is called) and lights. Didn't salvage much. The inner wings are good to use and I kept the spot lights. Everything else is scrap.
So today removed what was left of the screen wash bottle, horn, radiator and fan. Removed the whole of the front end. As you can see, there is quite a bit of damage to the headlight housing and front chasis.
Obviously I ain't banging that lot out! Off to the breakers to cut the front end of a peugeot 206 hdi I was ragging today. Will get inner wing, headlight housing and lower beam welded in.
Quite surprised by the amount of damage to the inner chasis. I knew there was damage though as I viewed the car.
So far spent £620.00 on the car.
+ £90.00 on delivery.
+ 20.00 on replacement screen wash bottle, crash beam and grille.
+ 6 hours of my own time.
#11: Re: Bought my second Peugeot 206 Verve on a cat D. Author: Paul76, Location: AndoverPosted: Fri Mar 14, 2014 6:16 pm ---- And nearly forgot, the sticker on the drivers door which displays the colour code has gone AWOL. I phoned peugeot and they said my colour code is Mozr. I cannot find any other 206 car or parts with the colour code mozr. There is some 207 parts relating to this code. I think Peugeot are having me on! Is there anywhere else on the car where I can find my colour code?
Many thanks.

The colour could be EZR Aluminium Silver. Can't even find anything near MOZR listed. It's amazing how unhelpful some dealers are getting.
You should be able to find out on servicebox in characteristic folder. You can PM me the last 8 of the VIN and I can check for you.

End of the day it's a 206, a car Peugeot has superseded twice.
Either the dealer doesn't care due to the fact it's just an old 206 OR the part's monkey hasn't got a clue about 206's.
Could be either reason or a combination of both.

Hi mate. Is it the same colour? I've been to Center Parcs the last week. I got back yesterday so I haven't done anything else. This got delivered though.
Everything I need to replace the damage on my car. So next step is to remove the damaged chassis leg, inner headlight housing and bottom cross member. These inner panels are all held together by spot weld.
I will need to drill out the spot weld and then use a panel seam splitter to remove damaged bits from the car. Then the same to the o/s front corner I've bought.
Just waiting for my spot weld drill bits to arrive in the post now.
#16: Re: Bought my second Peugeot 206 Verve on a cat D. Author: Timon2210, Location: PalestinePosted: Sun Mar 23, 2014 3:08 pm ---- so are you gonna fix it yourself?and how are you gonna weld it back yourself,or let a body shop do the job?
I believe that your car and mine share the same color, will double check tomorrow

Hi there. That is a good question. I'm removing all the damaged inner chassis parts myself and also separating the o/s front end I've bought. I do intend on getting a professional welder to weld the parts back into place.
Although once I'm out there I might have a go myself if it doesn't seem too difficult. I've not done much welding before but there are some great guides online.
Apparently these replacement parts will have to be plug welded back on. I'll get it all of and prepped and see how it all lines up.
To answer your question, I will be getting quotes for the welding. I'll be putting the front end back on myself.
#18: Re: Bought my second Peugeot 206 Verve on a cat D. Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Sun Mar 23, 2014 4:20 pm ---- It won't so much be the welding that's expensive, but the jig work. You only need to be a couple of mm out and that will throw the whole geometry of the car out, and will have endless handling problems.

Well for the work he is doing, nothing will effect the car handling,as the damaged part didn't effect the part where the shocks are mounted, but if they weld it wrong,he will have a problem fitting the front end, such bonnet, headlight, grill, bumper and so on :(,there will be measurements for sure.
#20: Re: Bought my second Peugeot 206 Verve on a cat D. Author: Paul76, Location: AndoverPosted: Wed Apr 02, 2014 6:51 pm ----
Just a little update on this fix. I've been working in my normal job so progress is leisurely! As you can see, I have now removed headlight housing panel, cross member and the front chassis closing panel ( the one with the towing eye attached to it)
As you can see, the front chassis panel has took a big hit. You will see how it's crumpled. This section is exactly designed to do this. As you can see in the third picture, figure 8. This is the section I am replacing Saturday.
It's spot welded to figure 5 in the picture. So will remove and weld section I've gotten from scrap yard. Obviously the one I've removed has already got the leg and closing panel attached.
So will spend tomorrow dismantling the front end I got from the scrap yard. Lots of drilling to remove the spot welds.
#21: Re: Bought my second Peugeot 206 Verve on a cat D. Author: Paul76, Location: AndoverPosted: Wed Apr 09, 2014 1:49 pm ----
Damaged parts of chassis leg cut out with grinder.
Front chassis leg welded in. Then headlight panel and front cross member.
Bumper reinforcer is added to check alignment.
So next step is treat with under sealant and primer. Then I'll spray it up and add the washer screen bottle, Horn and radiator. Then I just need to buy wings, bumper, bonnet and headlights.
The car owes me £1150.

Hi mate. I've been quite busy actually. I will upload new some pictures in a few days time as I'm busy living the Dream at the moment.
I have though prepped the all welded parts, primed them and sprayed them Silver and finished with Lacquer. Then finally coated with some underseal to keep the tin worm at Bay.
Refitted the Radiator and fan, flushed the system and added new coolant. It's good to get the Engine running again. It's not overheating and the fan is cutting in which is awesome.
I fitted the replacement screen wash bottle and attached everything back up. Refitted the Horn and repaired a few plugs that we're damaged.
Fitted the replacement front bumper retainer and fitted both front Headlights.
Everything is working fine and everything lines up nicely.
Traveling up to the West Midlands Tuesday to pick up wings, grille and Bonnet off a 2005 206 SW in Ezr. Hopefully they'll be a perfect match.
I just need a front Bumper now. These seem very difficult to come by in the colour coded version.

That is a great update, the car is nearly done according to what you said :),looking forward to see the pic,the car you got is so nice, and it will be a nice ride :),hope the wings and bonnet will match,if you don't find a bumper, just spray it

So a update on this thread. I did have other pictures but I kinda lost them. As you can see, the car is nearly finished. Just adding the last touches now. Just need to sort a little dink on the drivers door and wing.
The Bonnet is a state too so I'm looking to replace that.
Been working on her all day today. Removing centre console and other bits of trim so I could clean and remove Dog Hair. In depth Valet nearly complete now. I just need to shampoo the seats and carpet to try and get rid of Dog smell.
She flew through her Mot with no advisories yesterday.

Cheers mate. I'll definitely get my money back. She only owes me £1400. I'll drive her for a month and sell her on.
I'm looking to do 207 next. Although, if I see a nice 206, I'll probably buy her as I know these cars inside out and I have a soft spot for them. I wouldn't mind a
Gti either. Although I don't see many later ones.

For a straight one about £2000.
With Cat D listed against it, normally 25% less. But then there is the added problems of insurance. A few insurance companies won't touch a repaired Cat D, and if the insured party doesn't declare it was once a write off, then they risk having their insurance refused or cancelled. It should be listed on the Motor Insurance Anti-Fraud and Theft Register and should show up on any HPI check.
A bargain for some people, but then the find the hidden costs.
