#1: 206 Gti Cambelt Author: thfc_123, Posted: Tue Apr 08, 2014 2:49 pm ---- Hi All.
Looking into getting a 2.0 GTi in a few months and was just wondering if anyone knew what the cambelt interval was on them?
It would be the standard GTi (138bhp I think)
Any help would be great.
Cheers,
Mike.

Apart from the cambelt what are they like to own? Are they quick/reliable etc. Also does anyone know what they're like on fuel. I know what Autotrader says but they've never really been all that accurate in my experience.
Cheers guys.

Fuel is ok if you dont have a heavy foot .30mpg ..ish . is quick standard ... remap & straight throu middle 2 back & mod the air filter n it fly boio. reliable for sure .

They aren't fast but fast enough. 30mpg is realistic average but don't believe a word about them being fast with remaps etc. It takes a lot more than that to make them fast.
Unless the belt has definately been done recently be prepared to get the belt, tensioners and water pump done yourself.

My Alfa went from 6 years or 720K to 3 years or 36K! (Funnily enough after the first few of years of leases were completed)!

even if the paperwork or owner says its been changed i would still do it on any car i bought just for peace of mind. For the sake of a couple of hundred quid its worth it.
