CAR MISSING AND REVING ON ITS OWN!
-> 206 Problems

#1: CAR MISSING AND REVING ON ITS OWN! Author: foxy0010 PostPosted: Thu Apr 17, 2014 4:57 am

i have a 206 w reg, i have a persistent problem that we cant seem to solve, when driving the car will miss very slightly or have a stutter and when at traffic lights waiting the car will rev on its own and then stutter as i pull away and on a few occasions has cut out but will re start again fine, we have tried new spark plugs, cleaning the accelerator linkage, cleaning the air filter, putting red x in the tank, it has been plugged into a diagnostics machine and had a part fitted that regulates the petrol etc (sorry dont know the name of it) really at the end of my tether now and dont know what to try next, any suggestions anyone?

If you have any red x left over put some directly in the fuel filter rather than the tank, (if not buy some good injector cleaner) i am thinking your injectors are gunged up or sticking, worth a try.

Thank you will keep that mind, it has also been suggested to me to replace the electric coil pack as its a well known fault with the 206's apparently

I have had the same problem with my Gti. Change the coil pack and the should stop the reving. As for the missing that should be an injector, do you lose power?

I've literally just been doing some research into fuel injector/ fuel system cleaning, debating whether or not to do it, and apparently all the cleaners that you pour into your fuel tank are utter rubbish (Based on test results published online this isn't my opinion as I haven't used any). The most highly recommended way to clean them, based on what I've read so far, is getting pros toclean them with an ultrasonic cleaner which produces "like new" results. And to be honest if your problem is the injectors, as people have said, why waste a tennah on something that might work when you clearly need something a bit better?

DrunknMonkey yes it does lose power sometimes, when the revving starts and you try to pull away its very sluggish and jerky and on few occassions it has lost power completely but re starts straight away

Hawkers yes the throttle body has been cleaned and its been no better, think ill try some injector fluid over the weekend and see if that helps before getting the coil pack fitted, cant do it any harm if it doesnt work, ive tried everything else!
