Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Sat May 03, 2014 4:44 am ---- With the engine at idle, get a mate holding a cloth to put his hand firmly over the tailpipe while you are underneath looking for the leak. The pressure from the tailpipe being blocked will exaggerate where the leak is and make it easier to find.
Best done when engine is cold as less chance off you burning yourself and the metal hasn't expanded with heat which could cause any hole to get smaller and harder to find.
You won't do any damage this way as the pressure build up in the pipe will move your mates hand away before it gets anywhere near doing any damage.
