#1: 206 GTi Clunking when hard acceleration, dipping clutch Author: MusicalChris, Location: EastbournePosted: Thu May 22, 2014 4:10 am ---- Hi, my 52reg gti has developed a clunking when dipping clutch/changing gear and when accelerating hard and then lifting off again. you can feel it through the pedals and seems to be from drivers side but cannot be sure. I have heard it could be engine or gearbox mounts but am not sure where these are exactly. Could it be these that are causing this? the car also tends to wonder left and right at motorway speeds, have had the tracking checked and seems to be ok.
Any help would be much appreciated
Cheers
Chris

Left engine mount/gearbox mount seems like it has play in it. the lower arms were replaced about 30,000 miles ago, would these need doing again or i guess it could be top suspension mounts?
