#1: 04 206 hdi 1.4 Author: 206hdihung, Posted: Mon May 26, 2014 3:30 am ---- Hi I bought this car about a year ago and it was fine until about two months ago then it has just fallen apart. First the torsion bar then some axel problems then a replacement maf. Now the turbo doesn't seem to be working and another warning fault light has come up. My local garage rub their has with glee when they see me pull up I can see the pound signs in their eyes!
Rant over! Potentially this is a very economical car whilst it leaks, the radio and courtesy light dont work I can live with this.
Apart from keeping my local garages profit margins high has anyone got any thoughts? I managed to changed the fuel filter last week but thats about as far I go, I can't even see the turbo.

Things will / do wear out & require replacement, this means either spending money on it OR getting rid & making it someone else's problem.

If you are dissatisfied with your regular garage then perhaps take some recommendations for another? Turbo problems from "its seized" to a split boost pipe (can you hear any whooshing sounds?) Or even a blocked exhaust.
They are great for saving running costs when they work well, I won't part with my 1.4hdi anytime soon.

Get the codes read and see what it has to say for itself. Might not be a problem with the turbo at all but something completely unrelated

I have the 1.4 HDI Peugeot 206 on an 02 and have had very few problems with the engine other than a new crankshaft sensor which was causing stuttering.
Try disconnecting the MAF sensor and driving the car.
If it feels like there is still no turbo power with it disconnected then it could have died.
The MAF is one of the components that makes the turbo kick in.
It would be better to get the fault code read though as this is just a atrial and error procedure otherwise and potentially expensive.
I actually have a spare MAF from a 1.4 HDi as well so no need to spend £100 on a new from Peugeot.
A reputable technician who understands the HDi engine fully will track down the problem.
These forums do have some very helpful and knowledgeable people but then at the other end of the spectrum you just get guessed replies or people with PMT who want to let off steam.

You could also try disconnecting the MAF sensor and if it is still without turbo assistance it could be faulty.
