#1: airbar light flashing Author: sean.r.steward, Location: norfolkPosted: Tue May 27, 2014 3:51 pm ---- Hello people. I have a x reg gti. The airbag light comes on from time to time in a flashing form. I have had it pluged into a snapon diagnostic, the bloke told me it was pass airbag switch or airbag ecu/ecm. But today I went trought a bigish puddle (slowly as you do) and it triggered the falt.
Any ideas boys and girls.
#2: Re: airbar light flashing Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Tue May 27, 2014 4:00 pm ---- Get it scanned with Peugeot Planet.
A Snap On scanner just isn't very good for fault finding on a 206

So your saying the software the manufacturer of the car made to tell you whats wrong and can give specific manufacturer fault codes is worse than a 3rd party scanner with generic codes?
As said, get planet on it or just keep p**sing in to the wind.

Its NOT April the 1st
My suggestion to you now is take it to a Peugeot main dealer, break out the Vaseline & bend over.
#6: Re: airbar light flashing Author: Timon2210, Location: PalestinePosted: Wed May 28, 2014 3:30 pm ---- If you want to keep guessing, then keep scanning it with general diag. tools,if you wanna fix it,then look for a close garage with pp2000 or a member close by your area who would like to help.

If the snapon scanner pulled the codes off the car why would I need pp pluged in.
Any suggestions that are to the point

Now if there was only some kind of way I could think to help you, I don't know maybe an official Peugeot workshop manual for the non plexed 206 SRS system perhaps?
Something like this....

#11: Re: airbar light flashing Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Thu May 29, 2014 2:40 am ---- If you've had it scanned by a garage that in your opinion uses the dogs danglies of diagnostic equipment, then take the car back to them as obviously they know what the exact fault is.
Hang on, they don't
sean.r.steward wrote:

The simple answer is to change the switch and the airbag ECU. Not really rocket science since some bloke with a fancy bit of machinery has told you what the faults could be.
The proper answer is what you have already been told.
Why would the PSA group spend so much money developing a software and hardware package when they could have just waited for the local travelling salesman, bought a generic reader and then rebadged it, because it is obviously so much better than a package that has been built specifically for their systems.
At the end of the day it's your car, do it your way. It might be the more expensive way, but at least you will know that you found the problem.... eventually.
And I beg to differ

You asked for any better suggestions, and MrBSI suggested that you take it to the experts. No need to start name calling just because someone has given you advice that you don't like the idea off.
Maybe if you listened to his earlier suggestion, you won't need to break out the lube and you can find the fault for less than a McDonalds Happy Meal.

Because the snap on has given you a generic code that points to more than one area of the system. PP is extremely likely to give you a specific fault code that will point to exactly which 1 of the 2 parts are likely to be playing up.
And learn some English & some manors, especially when your asking for help.

A code is just a code. It was a possibility that the switch has a fault if not that then the ecm. But then under fervor investigation the fault triggered while driving through deep water. Now im thinking there maybe a short to earth some where, but external wiring for the airbag hmm. I got a feeling peugeot planet as wonderful as you lot say it is, its not going to tell me where the short to earth is. Infact any diagnostic equipment(odb just wont be able to see that info. Im simpily not paying main dealer prices for a fault that is inconsistent there for hard to find thereforee experience. Hence im on here talking to peugeot experts and infusiastes.

It's not. it can do far more including testing sensors, solenoids and circuits.

I'm not a fan of paper manuals, anyway i've got all the electronic copies on my laptop so that's far easier to use & more up to date
#17: Re: airbar light flashing Author: 206Tom, Location: IpswichPosted: Fri May 30, 2014 11:51 am ---- You'd be surprised how specific Planet can be...
A few weeks ago my car randomly started hunting badly. Plugged PP2K in and it brought up an exact fault of positive short on the Fuel Pressure Regulator....so it can detect shorts well. Turned out I'd left a wire laying on the starter terminal lol.
It's also brought up some really specific faults on my 206, such as the interior climate fan jammed, intermittent lack of positive feed to the light stalk, brake light switch permanently open etc. I've also used a Snap-On Solus before, and own a good Laser Code reader. But for the Peugeots, PP2K is always best. It also shows intermittent faults.
As for airbag wiring, there wont be any externally. It'll be as simple as the ECU under the ashtray, then wiring straight to the airbags and pretensioners.
I see you're also in Ipswich and would offer to stick my PP on your car but too busy atm I'm afraid.
#18: Re: airbar light flashing Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Fri May 30, 2014 11:59 am ---- Peugeot Planet has picked up both the time's I unplugged the passenger side door mirror.
I don't use Planet often but it was well worth the investment
#19: Re: airbar light flashing Author: 206Tom, Location: IpswichPosted: Fri May 30, 2014 12:10 pm ---- I'm on my 15th (I think!) Peugeot now...decided to buy planet after the 7th...definitely got my moneys worth from it lol!
#20: Re: airbar light flashing Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Fri May 30, 2014 2:51 pm ---- Mine has paid for itself by plugging it into friends and neighbours PSA group cars when a garage has been unable to diagnose a fault.

it dont test wire continuity does it. Daaaaaa. What is this, because its not full of peugeot 206 experts. Macca1411 has you hands ever been dirty. This forum this you can plug peugeot planet in and it fixed lmao it becoming a f*****g joke
Not that I have to justify my qualifications to you, but I will.
I completed my 5 year course to gain my City and Guilds in Motor Vehicle Engineering while you were still a tadpole swimming around your fathers ball bag.
After gaining this qualification, I worked a further 6 years for a Rover dealership. From there I went on to maintain a fleet of 70 vehicles that travelled over 100,000 miles per week between them. After 4 years, I moved onto a different career which also gave me further qualifications regarding the safety of motor vehicles.
So in answer to your question, yes I have got my hands dirty, and I have probably had a hell of a lot more experience than you, in all walks of life.

not really that impressive. 6 years on praising peugeot planet more like. but all you sit on a 206 forum and try and act clever, well why dont you go and work for renault then lmao.

Anyone with more than an ounce of sense would know that PP2000 doesn't fix the faults. It helps locate them. You actually need someone that knows the difference between a spanner and a hammer to fix the fault. If you are unsure what a spanner looks like, go into the bathroom, turn the light on and look in the mirror.
Anyone need to nip out and stock up on popcorn?

My suggestion to yourself is to calm down, you have asked for help, you have received some advice, for you to then go on and think you know better than other people is certainly insulting, especially when you come out with daft points such as what you wrote on page 1.
If you are not willing to invest in peugeot planet then perhaps you should buy a passenger airbag and take it from there. At least that way you can isolate it bit by bit.
If this topic keeps digressing and the rudeness caries on then you will have to contemplate a 7 day cooling off period.

I am calm, I haven't asked for help. I received very little advice. If you are referring to the snapon scanner then it not a daft point, just saying that it does everything on everything.
At the end of the day. Its not affecting anything. The light is never on apart from the odd occasion. Off and on with the key and light gose off. I work at a garage mots are no problem.
Its frustrating trying to get the point accross when people are saying take it to main dealer.
If people cant keep to the topic then they are a c***
