#1: Gearbox problems....... HELP! Author: LiamMiller, Posted: Mon Jun 02, 2014 5:07 pm ---- Recently I've being hearing a whining sound whilst in 4th and 5th gears. I know this is often a bad sign as it could be a problem with the gearbox, although I'm hoping for a more simple problem, this could be the final nail in the 206's coffin though :/ Can anyone help me?

Does the whining disappear when the clutch is pressed?

Have you checked your gearbox oil level?
#4: Re: Gearbox problems....... HELP! Author: LiamMiller, Posted: Tue Jun 03, 2014 12:31 pm ---- Haven't done any proper checks as of yet, been too busy with work. Not using the car as much though, so I might drop it down a friends garage tonight to see what he thinks. But yes the whining disappears whilst the clutch is down.
It started in 3rd and 4th, now it's moved from 3rd/4th to 4th/5th. Was thinking about putting a longer 5th gear in anyway but I'll have a look see what needs fixing (if it needs fixing)
Thanks Guys
