#1: Getting a spare key Author: gjab95, Location: LancashirePosted: Sun Jun 29, 2014 7:53 am ---- Hi,
I've just bought a Peugeot 206 1.4 Fever 3Door as my first car. It's a nice car, 04 reg and not too many miles, but its got a few scratches (going to invest in some T-cut) and needs a bit of modifying. It only has one key though, and I was wondering if you had any advice on how to get another one?
Thanks - sorry if I've posted in the wrong place.

You need Peugeot Planet to code the key to the car - either get the dealer to code it OR find someone local with Planet.

#4: Re: Getting a spare key Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Sun Jun 29, 2014 9:12 am ---- Depends on if you want a remote key or just a standard one.
The coding will cost the same whichever key you pick.
#5: Re: Getting a spare key Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Sun Jun 29, 2014 9:52 am ---- Last price I heard off for a remote key supplied and programmed by Peugeot was around £200.
#6: Re: Getting a spare key Author: gjab95, Location: LancashirePosted: Sun Jun 29, 2014 10:29 am ---- Thanks. I've just joined another forum to find someone who has Peugeot Planet. So do I need to find a security code using Peugeot Planet, and then can anyone cut me a key, or will I still need to go to a main Peugeot dealer?
Sorry for the (possibly) stupid questions, I'm totally new to all of this
#7: Re: Getting a spare key Author: Hawkers, Location: Norwich, United KingdomPosted: Sun Jun 29, 2014 10:34 am ---- Security code from Peugeot dealer. Anyone can cut the key. Immobiliser chip inside key fob needs to be programmed to the car so you can start it, this can be done by Peugeot Planet or by the dealership.
#8: Re: Getting a spare key Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Sun Jun 29, 2014 10:36 am ---- You need the security code for your car BEFORE you can code any keys.
It should be on a blue plastic card that originally came with the car, if you haven't got the code then a Peugeot main dealer can supply it.
Again you need the V5C & photo ID before a Peugeot dealer will supply the security code.
Anyone can cut a 206 key, the basic key blade design has been around since the 1980's.
#9: Re: Getting a spare key Author: gjab95, Location: LancashirePosted: Sun Jun 29, 2014 10:38 am ---- Ah great thanks, I get it now. I'll see how much it will all cost from the Peugeot dealer first, seems that will be easier, but most likely more expensive.
#10: Re: Getting a spare key Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Sun Jun 29, 2014 10:40 am ---- Just remember to take the correct documents with you else they wont order / supply any keys or security codes
#11: Re: Getting a spare key Author: ukskater01, Location: sutton surrey/welwyn garden cityPosted: Sun Jun 29, 2014 3:58 pm ---- If you get the code and get the correct transponder chip (that's brand new/never programmed), then it's very simple to program a new key in.
There are many people including myself on here that can do this with Peugeot planet. Search Peugeot planet map

It's which one of the remote circuit boards to get which is the difficult part.
#13: Re: Getting a spare key Author: gjab95, Location: LancashirePosted: Mon Jun 30, 2014 5:55 am ---- Thanks for all your help. I've asked a Peugeot Dealer for a quote and if its a lot of money I'll just ask for a quote for the code and chip and try to find someone in the north west to program it

You cant buy the transponder chip on its own from Peugeot, it's either a complete remote OR non remote key.
#15: Re: Getting a spare key Author: gjab95, Location: LancashirePosted: Tue Jul 01, 2014 6:02 am ---- So where else would I get a chip from? Or is it Peugeot or nothing?
