I now have the car back, they showed me the housing and it was cracked, at some point it had been taken off, glued and replaced instead of just being removed and replaced with a new one.... not sure what the logic was there. However when you place the 2 pieces together you cant see the crack. in otherwords, the garage was right and it was not really their fault.
I settled up with the garage for the cambelt and payed an additional 2 hours labour to change the pump housing instead of the 4.5 hours it took.
I did discover after this that they had not done the drop links or the CV boot as agreed previously. He said "well we did your rear disks and pads that werent agreed so we will call it quits there". I did tell the owner that I wasnt best pleased that he hadnt even told me it had not been done, but there we go.
I am going to do the drop links myself, and just leave the boot, the shaft is clicking on full lock anyway so I will just wait it out and change the whole driveshaft when it get worse.
Otherwise the car runs sweet, changed the filter and got an antipollution fault. Changed this for a cone filter and the fault cleared, so on the lookout for an induction kit now!
This is the first car I have owned that has power, and jesus. The 180 is like a bottle rocket!
Thanks for the advice all
