Hi all!
New to the forum, and looking for advice and fellow pug owners!

I'm looking to buy new wheels for the car, I'm currently running 175/65/14 and looking to go to either 235/40/16 or 235/40/17 as i think they will look nice depending on the style and they wont effect the speedo too much.

I've also looked at these sizes: 195/45/16, 245/35/17 and 245/45/15. Has anyone ever had these sizes on they're 206 and been happy with it ie: no problems while driving etc? also which would be too wide for the car?

Thanks Razz

215 is pretty much the maximum (on 17" alloys) due to steering problems (with sports wings).
My GTi 180 had 215's at the front and the tyres caught on the wheel arch liners.

Thanks for the reply.

I've got a 1.4 GLX so I'm assuming its a normal body.so we are talking 215/40/17 or 215/40/16 or lower then buy the sounds. I've been using a tyre size calculator and its telling me i'll only lose/gain a few mph on the speedo which i don't mind. any advice when changing to bigger wheels?

if your near Nottingham I have some 17s you can try
mine are 205/40/17 don't think you can go much bigger without clearance issues.

I have 205/40/17s on the back due to the Diesel filler pipe, but I have 205/45/17s on the front as they were cheeeeeeep and havent had any issues with them.

These are the correct tyre sizes you need for a 206.

15" - 195/55/15
16" - 195 OR 205/45/16
17" - 205/40/17

If you start changing profiles then you run the risk of rubbing.

Lecktorious, I'm going to try my hardest to get hold of 205/40/17 for the pug as i've just seen on today and looks mint. any good websites for alloys or just stick to ebay and gumtree? MrWhite that's a shame you couldn't have the exact same wheels but i'm sure they still look grand.

You need to know first of all if the wheel will even fit. Some of the tyre sizes you are quoting in your first post suggest that you are looking at wheels from different cars.

You need to know the offset, PCD and centre bore of the wheel you are looking at, then check that they match those of the 206. All of the above sizes for a 206 can be found if you search the forum, or check the Beginners Guide.

Well i'm assuming it's 4 x 108 PCD and from what i've researched ET is 23mm-28mm but you can go 5-7mm outside this? any of this ring true for a 206 hatchback in 2002?
