Cuts Out When Driving, now COMPLETELY dead!

#1: Cuts Out When Driving, now COMPLETELY dead! Author: Dj-Sal PostPosted: Mon Jul 14, 2014 5:30 pm
    ----
Hey guys, i recently bought a Peugeot 206 Quiksilver 1.4 16V 2004 model, done 56k miles. For 3 months it has ran ok with an 'airbag' light on and the 'engine management light' on (SILLY me drove it round for 3 months). Driving round 1 day and boom all power has gone, if i leave it for a bit it starts up fine and it drives for a little bit then boom cuts out again with tough steering & brakes lol Shocked
anyways ive took it 3 mechanics now and spent £300 up to now, put a new lamba sensor in (cleared my 'engine management light' thank god), had the throttle body replaced, bought a Comm2000 unit as mine was messed up (indicators would turn my lights on), thats all fine but my 'airbag' light is still on. had it diagnosed about 5 times but they just cnt seem to figure it out, the mechanics have said its something to do with my BSI/ECU communications, then the recent mechanic decides to try and reprogramme the chip or something and hes fried it he said n now there is no communication at all with the car. so 5 weeks down the line I have spent £300 and still no car (ripping my hair out). He's now telling me i need a new ECU/BSI kit, which are around £150 BUT i cnt bloody find one anywhere that matches my part numbers. I cnt afford to take it to Peugeot dealers (probably talking thousands for a whole new ECU/BSI kit no doubt).
So i dont know what to do, they don't know the 4 digit code on my ecu or bsi or whatever they said, that wont matter now because they messed mine up. Any ideas would really appreciate it Question Question Question

He fried it, so it's down to him to replace it. He'll find it hard to prove that it was damaged before he dicked about with it.

Seems like none of the mechanics you have taken it to knew what they were doing and just threw parts at it hoping it would work.

The 4 digit code is available from the dealer if you go in with the relevant documents and cross their palm with silver (well a couple of purple notes)

I'd phone round a couple of scrapyards and see if they have a BSI/ECU/immo chip from a scrapped 1.4 16v that you can buy. There are a few French car specialist breakers in North Manchester who might be able to help. If you do buy second hand, either make sure you get the security code, or get the VIN from the donor car as it will make life easier if you need the code in the future for a spare key.

The normal story of some so called mechanics not knowing what there actually doing.

Get Peugeot Planet on it & see what the damage is.

I will see if I can dig out a n ecu bsi and transponder from my old place and get back to you might need your VIN to make sure but I will see if they still keep them.

Driving with engine light on has probably knackered you cat and that won't help anything.
