Rusty fuel tank brace
-> 206 Problems

#1: Rusty fuel tank brace Author: cainw1 PostPosted: Tue Jul 15, 2014 12:16 pm

Whilst under my 180 today I noticed that the metal brace, which appears to be a support for the fuel tank is rather severely rusted.

The metal in question is in the centre of the tank. Does anybody know anything about this or if the tank is held elsewhere? There seem to be some supports towards the passenger side of the tank.

Thanks!

Just get a new strap from the dealer, there £11.38 new in the bag.

Penetrating oil on the nuts a couple of days before you attempt to undo them.

The tank is held elsewhere BUT the rusty strap will catch the eye of the mot tester, for what they cost just replace it.
