406 Brembo issue

#1: 406 Brembo issue Author: jonnyg2k5 PostPosted: Tue Jul 29, 2014 6:33 am

Just fitted a pair of 406 Brembo calipers to my GTI (138) and have used Xantia v6 Calipers 288mm. When I have come to refit the wheel (16" Nimrod) it will not fit as hits the caliper.

I presume I will need a spacer between hub and wheel? Anyone know whats the best size thickness to use for this setup?

Just put quantity of shims back of wheel for a measurement but never run your car with shims. Smile Smallest size it can clear is better. Only think I can said 16 mm is smallest spacer size you need for GTI180 alloy with 406 Brembo. You can walk over here.

Thanks Schumi.

The hubcentric spacers look good but there seem to be cheaper options (like £30 cheaper).....

For £8 quid on ebay you can get 10mm spacers they dont have a collar on to fit in the centre of the wheel - are these OK to use?

Whole weight of the car is placed on the bolts instead of being carried by the hub/rim centre hole (and the bolts more or less just keeping the wheel on).

Ah I didn't know that, that's annoying. With my old Saxo they were a straight bolt on behind 15's for some reason I was under the impression for the 206 they were a direct bolt on without the need for spacers.

Cheers for the info!

Thanks for all the replies, I will get hubcentric ones. I'm kind of guessing at 20mm spacers even though I have measured with a rule anyone have any experience with the sizes required for 16" 206 Nimrods over 406 brembos?
