Might get you going. But I wouldn't expect it to last.

Thanks Steve, still quite expensive though, anyone know of a small set under 20 quid that has the amount I need? I dont need that many for one job!

Thanks again

This one looks perfect? Has sizes ranging from 4mm to 17mm? I know its cheap and wont last but I need it for this job really, does this look okay?

That looks like it has everything you need, but you get what you pay for so don't expect it to last but at just over a fiver it's worth taking a gamble, you've got to start somewhere. If you're looking at starting a decent kit then look around car boot sales, always some tools for sale. I started off with basic spanners and socket sets and when money allowed built it up.

What He Said

From own experience with a very similar kit, the ratchet has an affinity for self disassembly. Can be somewhat helped by replacing the keyring style flat spring keeping it together, with a proper circlip.

But it works - for some fairly generous (or limited, depending on how you view it) definitions of 'works'.

Given prices and contents, I'd say the linked £25 kit is way more value and use/£. But if truly strapped for money, and the sockets required are in the smaller kit, and you buy it with understanding of the [poor] quality and expected [short] life, sure, it can be useful.

if you atre going to do DIY buy a haynes manual. Not perfect but you can read up first, see some pictures and when you get stuck half way through you can go backto the manual rather than wait for replies here. We do like to help but at your beginner level a Haynes manual will be worth it.
