Hi people, with just getting the MOT out of the way, my next thing is the timing belt, (kit with water pump) my mate fitting it, anyone knows the ins and out, of the way to go, planning on keeping the car for a few years yet, as is rust free, and the engine is still running sweet.

Tempted to go the main dealers way, not priced up as yet, anyone gone the cheaper root not main dealers, for the kit. and do the cheaper motor factors kit cover 90,000 miles, any feedback much appreciated.

A local mechanic near me did my timing belt for £180 supplied and fitted about 15,000 miles ago and i havent had any problems. dealers wanted £420 kit is only £50 from europarts for my engine and he charged £130 labour which I think is reasonable for a timing belt.

Cheers James3107, priced the kit up today from main dealers, £107 inclusive of VAT (belt, 2 rollers, and waterpump).

Good price, threw me a bit, had a higher figure in my head, just my mate to fit it now.

Goes to prove that genuine parts are not as expensive as some people think Wink

Always worth to try the main dealer first.
