#1: Adding grease nipples to rear arm needle bearings Author: MUHAMED PostPosted: Thu Oct 30, 2014 8:20 am

I was wondering how to protect and lubricate rear bearings.
Just found this great guide.
I would like to fit greasing points to my Peugeot 206.

On 306 forum people discussed this.

306oc.co.uk/forum/thread-10523.html

even here is a proposed solution:

balka405.com/en/lubricator.html

Lets discuss and try to find solution how to extend life of rear axle bearings.

And here is the picture where to install grease nipple on peugeot 206 rear arm. Pic is from Croatian forum:

Check this tool for removal of bearings and shafts. Easy to make.

to me the grease nipples seem like a good idea just i would do it when the suspension is disassembled just to be safe. the motorcycle shocks at the end of the thread seem interesting though

Grease nipples are excellent idea. I believe that mostly water that is coming inside bearings and due to corrosion the axles can be prematurely work out. So to install grease nipples you don't even need to disassemble rear arms.
It can be done easily. Twice a year just lubricate them. Simple and dirty solution.
Can you post a link of motorcycle shocks how to be installed ?
Seems interesting mod too.

If you have ever seen a suspension arm apart you will know that the casting is hollow, to get the grease to reach the bearings you would probably need two litres of grease to fill the void before you had any hope of grease reaching the bearings.

I was just thinking the same. You'll just end up filling the whole trailing arm with grease. If you really are desperate to stop wear just put loads of grease on the bearings and strip the axle down every couple of years.
