#1: what the difference between a 2001 206 2.0 HDI and a 2003? Author: Imelliot, Location: East Ayrshire, ScotlandPosted: Tue Nov 04, 2014 12:53 pm ---- So sometime this month my dad is giving me his 2001 206 2.0 HDI D turbo and i was looking up the tax prices so i know how much i need to keep so i can tax it and insure it the day i get it and i found out for 6 month Tax its £126 and i know someone else with a 206 2.0 HDI D turbo but its the 2003 model and the tax is only £30 a year. Whats the difference between them? I thought they both had the same DW10 Engines so why is the Tax so much cheaper on the 2003 one?

If not it will be the Eco version, same dw10 lump with a few minor changes that brings the emissions into the £30 a year tax bracket. My 2001 2L HDi D-Turbo is also £30 a year tax.

It's not subject to emissions based taxations classes then, as this came in to effect on 1st March 2001.

Not necessarily - depends on the tune of the engine. Some post March 2001 2.0 HDi 206s are still well over £100 to tax.
2.0 Hdi DTurbo 90 (non-ac) is 136 g/km (and other non-ac varients)
2.0 Hdi DTurbo 90 (with ac) is 144 g/km (and 2.0 HDI sport with DAC and AC)
2.0 Hdi Eco 90 is 120 g/km
As the tax is based on emissions, only the latter would get cheap road tax - Band C (£30 p/a). The non ac are Band E (£130 p/a), and AC models are Band F (£145 p/a).
