#1: advice please Author: paulspug, Location: Spalding lincolnshirePosted: Fri Nov 07, 2014 9:18 am ---- after having a lorry blow his tyre and have it hit me , then finding out I cannot claim off him for the damage, I am in need of a garage to do some exhaust work.
Initially it looked like a bent grill and a broken radiator as fluid was leaking out.It was dark and after 90mins the AA turned up to load me up and take me home. However in the morning it was red fluid that was leaking, and the power steering pipe had been holed.
the next few days while I worked on the car, it seemed all to be going too well, then I struck her up.Ye Gads what a horrid noise, inspection showed the back box bent and broken.
So, I have been calling different garages to make up a pipe, just a straight bit of pipe and no box, but here in sunny spalding I can seem to find anyone to do this?
I have a scorpion exhaust so stainless steel is the order of the day.
Does anyone know where I can have this made?
Ideally nearer me the better
thanks for replies that may come

Also im a little confused why you couldnt claim against him, i think you might be getting told wrong information there, i used to work in insurance and his vehicle has caused damage to yours therefore his insurer would be liable.

Same rules apply whether it's a blown tyre or if someone hit you.
Obviously the insurance would look at if you could have avoided running over the tyre.
In the long run it could end up costing you more by claiming, and it could even be beyond economical repair, depending on the vehicle age and condition.
I would visit the firm though and show them receipts and see if they would like to make a contribution or go through the insurance. Most companies with a fleet have a huge excess and it would be cheaper for them to pay up.

got told by my insurance that they cant claim against the lorry as no fault can be proven , yet I can claim on my insurance for the repairs but the excess exceeds the amount of damage atm.
I have witnesses as 3 other cars got damaged.
police didn't want to know either so no incident number given
This I was told by my brokers and not my insurance underwriters
