Just a quick one, my car needs a service and I am due my cam belt service next year. How much is it and would it be worth having a small service now and the large one next year or just getting the cam belt done now?
Also, how much am I looking at for the cam belt?

I remember having a belt fitted to my XR2 many eons ago and that cost me something like £180 including the belt.
Depending on what mileage your car has done, most people recommend having them done every 60k miles or every 5 years

Unless its been damaged by flood water . 100thou will be ok .
Cars now on 107000 still on original clutch . Got new 1 . Cracked it and old one still in good shape .
Check belt for slits cracks marks damage .

If I were you, i'd get the full service and cambelt done together and try to work out a deal with the garage. At least this way you can save some cash.

I personally wouldn't wait that long, its one of those things that's best not taking a chance on, if the cambelt goes you could ruin the whole engine.
I personally would change at 60-70k or 8years - whichever comes sooner

To be honest, if the only difference between this years service and next years is the cambelt, might as well have it done this year. I'm looking at doing the cambelt every 60k, especially with this engine!

I'm sure when I rang peugeot about belt change on our 2.0 Hdi
I'm sue they said, 96k or 10years which seemed very long to me
And changed it on the 10th year as they advised, only as didn't
Get chance to do it myself sooner

ouch I paid about £240 for a full big service and water pump timing belt ect

Yeah looked at the receipt today as I thought it was a bit much, forgot to add the new EGR valve and 2 rear calipers to the list...
DPF was more hassle than it was worth!

Here I am on a 55 plate with 23k I bet that'l take some beating.
Seriously though, my cambelt is due next year and I wonder if it's worth it given the low milage.
#12: Re: How much is the cambelt/8 year service? Author: Oafie, Location: Glyn CeiriogPosted: Tue Nov 18, 2014 6:49 pm ---- Peugeot recommend that you change the cambelt every 8 years or 80 000 but the Haynes manual reckons changing at 4 years or 40 000 miles.
My view is go with the Haynes manual, if the belt breaks it will make a hell of a mess of your engine, bent valves, maybe piston damage if the engine rev,s are high.
When I buy a car and I'm not sure if the belt has been done I change it anyway for piece of mind, I did mine in 3 hours and that was with changing the waterpump too
