#1: Weird Glitch with Stereo/MFD Author: rhx1, Posted: Tue Nov 18, 2014 4:33 pm ---- I drove home today with everything working perfectly, got home and locked up as normal, then noticed a bright light inside that turned out to be the central display (which always turns off when I turn the key to the position you can remove it), displaying the CD track number, and the clock (the clock was still updating as normal)
I got back in again and fired the car up, and the radio/cd refused to work at all.
I then opened the door and the door open message displayed perfectly normally, however when I shut the door, the message just froze on the display. I turned the car off and took the key out, and the display remained lit.
I returned to the car about 20 mins later, and the display was still on.
I fired the car up again, and the radio worked fine, and the display turned off as normal when I shut the car down.
I couldn't find anything about the display freezing anywhere, just it either working or not, and it seems mysterious as even when the message was frozen, the clock updated fine.
The car is completely stock and I've never had anything similar happen before.
It's worrying as I thought if I couldn't get it to turn off it might drain the battery.
So, if anyone has any ideas what might have caused this, it would put my mind at rest.
Oh and if it's any help its a 05 plate so I assume it was made in 05 or 04
Thanks for reading.

Try a BSI reboot never the less and report back.
Shutting Down BSI:
* Put down the drivers window.
* Pop and Open the bonnet. Shut ALL DOORS apart from the bonnet.
* Leave the car for at least 3 minutes. This allows the BSI to shut down and go to "sleep."
* Disconnect the clamps on the battery, and change/do electrics/whatever you are planning to do.
Rebooting BSI:
* When reconnecting, reattach the clamps on the battery. Don't shut the bonnet yet. Leave the car for a few more minutes. This allows the car to settle.
* Lean through the drivers window, and turn the sidelights on. (Don't open the door.)
* This is called a "Soft Start" for the BSI.
* Let the car finish thinking about everything, and check all the systems etc.
* Start the car.

I've never had the battery off myself and as far as I know it's the same battery that came with the car. I have FSH and no mention of a new battery anywhere.
#4: Re: Weird Glitch with Stereo/MFD Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Wed Nov 19, 2014 1:18 am ---- Known BSI software bug.
Mine does it about once every 6 months.
Live with it OR Peugeot main dealer & get BSI software updated.

Out of pure interest is a reboot the only way to fix it on temp basis or will it sort itself out eventually until it starts playing up again?

How much is that likely to cost?
#8: Re: Weird Glitch with Stereo/MFD Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Wed Nov 19, 2014 5:43 am ---- Normally an hours labour charge.
Ring your local dealer & ask.
#9: Re: Weird Glitch with Stereo/MFD Author: rhx1, Posted: Wed Nov 19, 2014 5:56 am ---- Been quoted £52, that seem reasonable?
#10: Re: Weird Glitch with Stereo/MFD Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Wed Nov 19, 2014 6:11 am ---- Bargain
#11: Re: Weird Glitch with Stereo/MFD Author: rhx1, Posted: Wed Nov 19, 2014 6:36 am ---- Now all I have to decide is if it's worth it.. Owned the car over 1.5 years and it's never happened before, could it be the same again before it happens again, just wondering if there is any other advantages to the update.
#12: Re: Weird Glitch with Stereo/MFD Author: rhx1, Posted: Wed Nov 19, 2014 7:17 am ---- Scrap that, can't have it done as they need both keys, which I don't have right now. Never mind.
