#1: Which cars use the 2.0 hdi engine? Author: doski, Location: WarwickshirePosted: Tue Dec 09, 2014 2:22 pm ---- I've recently sold my bora as it handled like a boat and I've come to learn you cant buy a half decent sub 1k diesel VW that doesnt have 25 problems. I bought it at 140k with receipts for a clutch and water pump kit and it looked sound at the time yet 2 window regulators, a steering rack, door seal and a gear linkage later I'd had enough.
Im back in my trusty £300 1.1 206 but im after a 2.0 hdi probably a 206 as the 306 is aging now and I think Ive done enough work on my 206 to be happy with it so there's no rush.
Out of curiosity which cars use the 2.0 hdi lump found in the 206/306 DW10 I beleive?
the 206 is great just a tad bit small thats all

#3: Re: Which cars use the 2.0 hdi engine? Author: doski, Location: WarwickshirePosted: Tue Dec 09, 2014 2:28 pm ---- citroens as well I've looked at the 307 not sure if the 2.0hdi is the same lump though.
I may settle for a 306 just would like a newer (ish) car thats bulletproof or can be fixed with duct tape.

If you do decide on a 307 then make sure it's a later one with the Bosch CAN CAN electrical system & it's had ALL it's safety recall's carried out.
Citroen C4 is also worth a look.
Be warned that some DW10's on both the 307 & C4 ( & other PSA products ) have the FAPTASTIC DPF system fitted!

Yup, stay away from any 307 that's got a Siemens injection system on it. Absolute nightmare when they go wrong.

I think the shape is timeless its just there a little old now worries me about parts
There again my 206 is a T reg and still going strong
#8: Re: Which cars use the 2.0 hdi engine? Author: Harry, Location: StaffordPosted: Tue Dec 09, 2014 3:35 pm ---- I had a 206 HDi but got bored with it being lowered on its a**e and couldn't be bothered to raise it back up.
So i got a 306 estate with the same engine - had it for 4 months or so now and absolutely love it. Starts first time every time and I've done almost 5000 miles with no problems (well the rear end has starting squeaking..).
Only thing is that mine is a year older than when the tax changed (I think around 2001?) so I pay almost £100 more for the pleasure. If I had realised I would have definitely tried to get a slightly newer one.
I agree on the timeless shape thing - they have aged really well compared to cars of a similar age. There are plenty of spares around and several companies offering refurbishment services. Just think of how rover owners feel
In terms of issues they are really similar to a 206. Just the usual wear and tear with the possibility of the the rear axle falling apart.
#9: Re: Which cars use the 2.0 hdi engine? Author: pro_steve, Location: BristolPosted: Wed Dec 10, 2014 7:10 am ---- 2.0 HDI: Xsara, Xantia, C5, 206, 306, 307, 406, 607, berlingo, partner, suzuki grand vitara.
The early Siemens systems aren't too bad in my opinion, they run in a similar way to the Bosch system so can be equally as complicated to fix if you don't have diagnostics equipment and experience.

Should £1500 get me a good example? I expect the usual peugeot faults
just looked on autotrader and there's only 50 on there at the moment
#11: Re: Which cars use the 2.0 hdi engine? Author: pro_steve, Location: BristolPosted: Wed Dec 10, 2014 7:21 am ---- For a 306 HDI I wouldn't be paying much more than £750, they go quite cheap nowadays. If you can get one with less than 80K on it then maybe a bit over a grand.
