Started having a rummage through the gti I bought and found a box inside the glove box with a remote and sat nav disc inside it is this a factory fit thing or not?

Yes - someone must have ticked the sat nav option box when they originally ordered the car.

AFAIK it involves aiming the remote at the multifunction display.

Never played with one, there pretty rare on 206 & they also go wrong on the other PSA products the system is fitted to.

Might be worth fitting new batteries in the remote control.

Think a change of batteries may be in order then I'll give it ago although te mfd needs replacing anyway as its gone all pixelated

Good luck finding one 2nd hand, the sat nav one is rare.

Is your 206 non plexed or multiplexed?
