Gti 180 mirrors won't fold?!

As stated in the subject, the mirrors on my Gti 180 won't fold. Has anyone else had this problem? I was thinking of either a blown fuse, faulty wiring or just the motor is f**ked.

The little Scaletrix motors that power the folding unit inside the mirror will be rusted up, very common issue.

I've repaired these before & there a fiddly little sod of a job to do.

So Is it a replacement motor that is need or just a quick clean up, it doesn't bother me as I'd probably forget about it anyway, but I think it's just the fact they aren't working!

Its a complete strip the mirror apart in to its component parts, remove the non serviceable folding motor gearbox assembly from the mirror frame, open it up & then repair it.

There not actually designed to be taken apart & repaired.

take off the tweeter cover in the car, and fiddle with the wires just in case they are loose failing that the motor is gone..

Good morning guys.
I'm just a new user from Brazil and in order to not create a new topic I'm looking for a little help!
One of the 2 rearviews is not folding. So I dismounted all things and the little engine from "Mabuchi" was rusted just like the friend said. I fixed it, assembled everything together and the little engine doesn't have "power" to fold. I also bought one similar and again it's not folding when in charge. In my hand without any charge it works perfectly but when I assembly it, it doesn't work. I'm new to the forum so I don't know how to post pics or videos.
Does anyone pass thru this situation?
Thanks in advance guys, great forum!

Did you get anywhere with this, jpedrogc?

I've got a lazy drivers side one and acquired a stuck spare that I was going to take apart and investigate to fix, then do a 'how to' if I can work it all out. I think Mr BSI is well versed with these little blighters! And with what he's said and the pictures you've added it is already very informative.

Is there anything else to it or that I should know?

Thanks very much.
