Front Subframe Alignement Issue
-> 206 Problems

#1: Front Subframe Alignement Issue Author: Warren569 PostPosted: Fri Dec 26, 2014 5:32 am
    ----
Hi there,

I'm a newbie to this site, so apologies for making my first post a request for help!! I came home just before xmas to be told the 'gears had gone' on the wife's 206 2.0 HDI. I had a look at possible problems, decided it was the links (as I knew these were less than perfect last time I looked) and ordered some. I was short of time, so booked mobile mechanic to come and fit them. However, problem turned out to be the linkage mechanism had sheared off it's mounting on the subframe. After having to weld the front captive nuts in chassis to remove bolts, I dropped the subframe a couple of inches to get my welder in and made good the fix. Then the real problems started!! I couldn't get the subframe to align onto the chassis (about 5-10mm out). After much cursing and levering/ratchet strapping, I got the 4 bolts back in but the whole thing is still out of alignment and I can't get the lower engine mount back on.
Now I'm stuck big time - it's either a warped subframe or I've cocked something up putting it back together....any ideas on what I can do next? Idea

The subframe is bolted up but it looks to be a few mm out off to one side. However, think the problem is the engine seems to have moved a couple of cm towards the nearside. After a lot of pulling, I've managed to get the bottom engine mount on, although it's not looking 'happy'. The offside engine mount is on but gearbox mount is way out and I've not managed to get it anywhere near with the crow bar. Starting to think the offside drive shaft could be the issue, which would mean a diff problem - pushing the engine over to one side - could be wrong but there's only that and the exhaust that could be forcing engine over??

Get a jack and block of wood under the engine and check the mounts. The gearbox side is pretty crappy. You should be able to get to the gear linkage mechanism by removing the battery.

Is the drivers engine mount broken? That can cause issues, as only the top thread breaks away
