#1: Please help!!! 2003 206 Look Author: Eblandie PostPosted: Sat Jan 03, 2015 8:00 am
    ----
Hi there, my daughters 206 recently broke down and wouldn't start. I investigated with the help of my father in law and found the timing belt needed changing. We have done this and the car still won't start.. The starter motor engages and all the crank and engine is engaging but still no joy. Eco mode is displayed on dash. Will diagnostics be my best bet. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds like the 'timing' needs to be set up.

timing belt needs to be set correct, and hope that there is no internal damage done when it stopped working, also you might need to check the crankshaft sensor.

onNo the cambelt had not snapped, there were some teeth missing on the belt, so it wasn't turning properly.

you need to replace the belt with the correct timing pins and do a compression test..... this is to see if any contact was made between valves and pistons when the timing slipped.... you may be looking at a "head off" job Sad

Timing has been done with the correct pins. My father in law put his hand over exhaust, there was no compression he said.

Then you need to take the head off. I would do a proper compression test on each cylinder first to identify which cylinder or cylinders are affected. You may find a second hand head cheaper if there are more than two cylinders affected.
I am assuming that your father in law knows his stuff and its possible to replace the damaged valves if there are only a few bent

He needs to research how to time one of these before starting the job. I don't mean to undermine your trust in him but anyone knows that if teeth are missing the timing will have moved enough to bend valves.
