#1: 206 gti, few problems Author: Lumpymash, Location: SouthamptonPosted: Mon Jan 19, 2015 1:58 pm ---- Hi guys!
I just brought a 2003 206 gti.
Got it cheap for £800 5 months mot and only 64k miles.
The engine sounds really nice and drives pretty well.
But....
The worst problem is it has NO power at all in any gear. I actually struggled to get to 70 on the motorway! Any ideas what this could be? Common? I'll probably take it down a garage to get diagnosed tomorrow.
Crunches slightly into 3rd but hasn't had a service in 5 years! Oil?
The screen with clock etc on is flashing and looks like the left side of it might not work anyway. Why is it flashing?
Any thoughts on how bad I've done? I reckon I could get this back to a nice low miles example just needs a lot of work.
Jon.

The oil is most probably like sludgy custard and will be preventing the engine running properly.

Easy to fit?

1-Water Pump+Timing Belt to be replaced.
2-New Thermostat
3-Coolant flush
4-Use Engine Oil cleaner (as in oil flush) so that it cleans everything inside the engine or cleaner, and smoother running parts.
5-Oil+Oil filter+Air filter and Fuel filter.
6-New Spark plugs (OEM is the best)
7-Check the front end, brakes, and discs if need any work, and then give it a good clean from inside and out, with wax and puff ,and so on,and then you will have a nice example of low mileage car.
About the MFD in the middle,it's flashing because the batter was dead, and got replaced,or the battery is weak if the car was not in use,and if you can read all the numbers but not as bright the other side, then you need new bulbs :D,hope you can upload pics of it soon.

I'll get it down a garage tomorrow to fix the power problem, hopefully.
Then ill get the cam belt done straight away.
I'm hoping to do the rest of the work myself with help from my brother.
We should be doing a service on his clio 182 soon.
